East Georgia State College recently named Dusty Hess Interim Head Coach of the Bobcat Baseball Team. Hess joined EGSC as an assistant coach, hitting coach and offensive coordinator in 2015 and, during that time, was responsible for recruiting athletes, coaching all positions defensively, field maintenance, and strength and conditioning programs for all players.
Prior to joining EGSC, Hess was Assistant Coach at Skagit Valley College and Northeastern State University. He was also an undergraduate assistant at Kansas State University and assistant coach at Manhattan High School No stranger to the diamond himself, Hess played for Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott, Kansas. He earned his B.S. in Kinesiology in 2011 from Kansas State University, and his M.S. in Health and Kinesiology from Northeastern State University in 2013.
“I am extremely excited for the opportunity to be Head Coach here at EGSC,” said Hess. “I would like to thank Dr. Boehmer, Chuck Wimberly and Matt Passaeur for giving me this opportunity. We have an excellent group of young men and a very talented group of baseball players. With our returning experience and incoming recruiting class, our expectation is to make another run at a conference championship and Grand Junction, Colorado!”
“Coach Hess is one of the hardest-working coaches I have seen in recent years,” said Athletic Director Chuck Wimberly. “He is willing to give of his time and energy to make sure the job is done right. He comes from a great coaching family, and his dad is one of the better high school coaches in the nation.”
“Dusty has been an assistant coach with us for two years now and, in those two seasons, our Bobcats have produced the most wins in school history, and won a conference title,” Wimberly continued. “We are pleased to have Dusty lead our Bobcats on the baseball diamond this season.”
